In one line: Folding Mirror collects nothing. Below is that line written out — including every occasion on which it goes online.
Privacy policy
What Folding Mirror collects
Nothing. There is no account system, no usage reporting, no collection of document contents, and no “anonymous statistics” either.
Where your documents live
In the folder you chose, as plain .md files on disk. Folding Mirror does not upload, sync or keep a copy. Uninstall it and every file is still there.
When it goes online
- When you call the AI assistant: your machine connects directly to the provider you configured, using your own API key. Nothing is relayed through us.
- When it checks for updates: it requests a version file from this site, carrying no identifying information.
Where your API key is kept
In the system keychain (macOS Keychain), encrypted by the operating system. It never leaves the machine.
This website
Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics; which button was clicked is recorded by an endpoint of this site's own. Neither sets a cookie, and neither builds a cross-site identifier — which is why there is no cookie banner here.
What is recorded: what happened, on which page, which site the visit came from (the domain only), and the country. No IP address is stored, and nothing you write in the demo editor is recorded — that editor runs entirely in your browser. If your browser sends Do Not Track, this site's endpoint sends nothing at all.
